"My gang is better than your gang... Bla bla bla"
Are we all children in a playground?
I completely understand the want & need to support your favourite artist/group. It's uplifting; not only to the person/s you are a fan of, but to the other fans that support that person/s also. Fans and their fandom support each other, help each other when they are feeling down and have each others back. It's almost perfect.
That is, until you get some absolute idiots (yes, I'm saying it out loud - with my name to it) who come along and disrupt the peace by posting things such as " I heard a friend of a friend's friend talking to her dogs mother's aunties duck and they said that something is going to go down and ****** fandom is going to be ganged up on" or "A **** just made a racist/sexist etc etc remark to a unicorn" etc etc.
Now, I'm more than aware that some of these messages/Tweets/Curious Cats/Anonymous posts are just absolute bollocks, made up pretending to be someone else and I'd say that 95% of them are; they just want to start a "Fan War" or whatever it is called. I don't know why they do it, it could be out of jealousy against certain groups or people, they could really like to cause trouble. or they just want their post to go viral so it will boost their following and cause a fandom to have a complete meltdown.
Yes, this has actually happened before, and it works.
What really annoys me is that the remaining 5% is most likely truth.
A Fandom could actually be talking to other Fandoms to gang up on each other. Certain people are being racist/homophobic in the name of their Fandom.
Fandoms are calling each other names and saying terrible and spiteful things to each other for ALL of Social Media to see. You know who can also see it right? THE ARTISTS THEMSELVES.
How sad and disapointing is that.
It must be heart breaking for them to see their fans talking and behaving like this to one another. At what point did these groups ever state it was OK to represent them in this way? Do you actually think that you are doing your best to represent them?
This is not what it's about. You do know it's actually about the MUSIC?
I thought we were better than this; that we had moved forward with times and that we were all together helping each other bring Korean Music into the mainstream where it should be; along with any other music from any other country because it's about the MUSIC!
Instead it seems we are just all banging on about how much better we are than the last person and jumping on bandwagons prior to any research or factual information.
I don't think in any of our favourite groups lyrics does it state "You will cause havoc with other Fandoms and treat each other badly just because they have a difference of opinion, like another group, are a different race or sexuality, or their group is having a successful moment"
Those who have posted racist/sexist or just plain hateful remarks who do it in the name of their Fandom; SHAME ON YOU.
Those who have made up, commented and continued these plain stupid (my opinion) posts about ganging up on people and causing a fuss on chats; SHAME ON YOU.
I wish that whenever some idiot posts anything hateful, they never receive a like, comment or message; they are met with silence.
Do you want to represent your fandom? Do you want to make a positive movement/statement?
SAY NOTHING.
They leave NOTHING. They achieve NOTHING. Those words become NOTHING.
To all Fandoms,
"You gave me the best of me, so you'll give you the best of you".
