BTS in Europe - Paris

London to Paris

The lyrics from Airplane pt. 2 kept playing over and over in my mind...
“We going’ from NY to Cali
LONDON TO PARIS...”
I was sat on a coach, literally travelling from London to Paris. It was mad, it was crazy, but I wanted to try. I was on my way to see if I could get tickets for BTS’s last night in Europe. Looking back now, it seems insane to risk so much – getting on a coach to another country, unsure if I would get into the venue or not...but it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
After I finished work on the Friday, I headed straight to meet my friend who would be travelling with me. At dinner, we were buzzing, but also trying to be realistic that we might not get tickets. Either way, we would be in the same city as the boys once again and we would get to soak up that energy once more.
After a 9 hour journey, we finally arrived in Paris, before sunrise. We were greeted by the Accors Hotel Arena and the meme-worthy stairs, pictures of which had been floating around all over Twitter. It was amazing to finally see it in person!

Once we found the ticket office, we sat and waited, making friends in the queue with lovely ARMY who had come from other cities and all walks of life to try for tickets too. We talked for hours (from 6am until 3pm!) about how much the boys meant to us, about how they’d changed our lives...it was endearing to know they mean so much to so many people.
Then at 3pm, the ticket office finally opened! They let the first 10 people in (myself and my friend were no. 9 and 10). It was nerve-racking. I was so worried we would get to the front, only to be turned away.
The girl in front of us had wanted a P3 seat, but there were none left, only P2 seating. She didn’t have enough money for a higher category seat, so she started to leave the queue. I dug into my purse and gave her €20, another person giving her the €10 that she needed. We had come too far together for her not to get in. For me, it was nothing. It was like helping a lifelong friend, no, even more than that, like helping out family.

Then we got our tickets! IT WAS HAPPENING! I stared at them, in my hand, for at least a minute and I remember crying as soon as I left the ticket office, a mix of emotions. It. Was. Real. Our wild, spontaneous adventure had paid off!
After some lunch, and some composing myself, we entered the venue, got our beautiful banners for ARMY time and just soaked everything in, until ‘IDOL’ started playing. There they were all over again.
And then, the concert just flew by. I laughed and cried again, with all I had left in me. A seamless performance by the masters, it was euphoric. I tried to soak it all in, knowing it might be the last time I get to see them. I tried to remember as many details as I could this time, how they moved, how they joked with one another. This time, Jungkook was more mobile, smiling, dancing. It was perfection, almost as if he had never been injured. This was the night my heart wanted so much.
Then before I knew it, it was ending. Answer: Love Myself started playing. But this time, I wasn’t sad. I was...uplifted. I had seen the seven most important people to me, when I thought I wouldn’t be able to. These boys have truly changed my life. They’re the reason I am where I am now. They have given me purpose and filled my days with happiness, not just through them, but through all the people I’ve met because of them. They have made me better, they’ve made me stronger...they’ve made me love myself.

To the boys I love so much, thank you. And I miss you...
