Dear Diary

Out of the blue - BigHit dropped the Map of the Soul:7 album title and comeback
photo with lots of dates and information which caused a lot of confusion - what
did Connect, BTS: London and Online mean on the 14th January?
Let’s start at the beginning of comeback:
9th January 2020
Pre-Order of their album is now available on Amazon UK and HMV - I decided to
pre-order Version 4. Although truth be told I actually tried to order it
on the Wednesday as I was too excited and managed to confuse the date -
surprise surprise it wasn’t available.
10th January 2020
Well as your probably aware - Shadow is what many believed would be the title
of the album - which ended up being MOTS:7
Suga gives us the comeback - oh boy it does not disappoint! BTS Radio UK have a
few Blogs on Shadow - so check them out, if you haven’t already.
13th January 2020
I found out that Connect, BTS was a
website but it didn’t show anything.
14th January 2020
9am I tried the website again and
there was an article about an Art Installation at the Serpentine gallery in
London. BTS had also interviewed the artist Jakob Kudsk Steensen which
can be seen on YouTube. The interview was interesting partly because BTS were
the interviewers for a change. I am hoping to go to the gallery in
February.

Waiting patiently for their comeback single to drop was impossible - I couldn’t
wait and according to YouTube, the video had only received 170 views when I saw
it - however, I’m not sure I believe this! Wow the dancing by MN Dance
Company was/is breathtaking. The sound of the main dance’s arm slapping
his own back has stayed with me. At times it appears as if there is water
below where they are dancing and I had a fear he would fall in - I definitely
had a feeling of impending doom whilst watching it.
Another thing that BTS, Connect
included is English subtitles on Their YouTube channel and also for the song
Black Swan (although I’m not sure if this has been possible before). But,
reading the lyrics again gave me a feeling of worry and concern -
The first death being the lack of
excitement when the music starts.
What if that moment is right now?
Feet held in a rut, Killing me now.
These are just some of the lyrics and
I have to say they do not calm my fear at all! RM did say in the Black
Swan reaction video that everything will make sense once the album is heard in
its entirety and although this song raises concerns, he did say at a recent
award ceremony that BTS had no plans to go anywhere and would be around for a
very long time.
I did feel whilst watching the video
that the music appeared very much in the background - it felt to me that the
performance was more important and although I did get lost in the performance I
wanted to hear BTS sing more clearly and I did think they would’ve been in the
video at some point.
27th January 2020
The Grammys were last night and my thoughts were along the lines of “surely BTS
would actually be performing one of their own songs as well as Seoul Town Road
with Lil Nas X as only RM was in the collaboration?” Well as I am sure
you are all aware my thoughts were wrong but, they did a fun, vibrant and
playful performance and even though it was short it was very sweet!
28th January
BTS performed Black Swan on James
Corden’s Late Late Show.
29th January 2020
Woke up this morning to YouTube’s
clips of BTS on the Late Late Show.
Black Swan was just visually stunning
and beautifully choreographed and performed. Bare feet too!! I also
recognised some iconic dance moves from previous songs - like Jin’s Fake Love
move. Personally I love them dressed all in black.
Then the hide and seek section was so
much fun, if not a little uncomfortable with how Jin and Jimin are manhandled
and then RM revealed Jungkook’s hiding place. Very entertaining!
Looking forward to the continued
build up till 21st February - feeling very excited!
